Is Belmont insured?
Yes! We have a large General Liability Policy and we carry Workers Compensation Insurance. Workers Compensation Insurance is important to you because it takes the liability off the homeowner in case anything happens to a Belmont employee while working on your property. Although the law requires it, it is expensive and many roofing contractors choose to not carry it.
How long will it take to finish my roof?
It rarely takes more than two days for us to finish a job, and normally we will have it done at the end of one day.
How will you haul away the old shingles?
On many of our projects, we provide roll-off dumpsters. In the case we do not need a roll-off dumpster, we will provide a trailer to catch and haul away the material. Our crews will generally drop off the dumpster/trailer at about 6:30-7:30 in the morning and take it away the next morning after we finish the job. We make every effort to be certain the dumpster/trailer is not in your driveway over the weekend.
What if the wood on the deck of the roof is rotten or there is some other problem?
We always check for problems with the roof deck. We re-nail any loose decking and replace any rotten wood that we find. If it is questionable, we will consult the homeowner before making any repairs.
Do I need to be at home while you are working on my roof?
No. We are completely self-contained on the job and we do not require access to your home. Frequently, your job will be complete before you get home from work. If you choose to be home, we certainly have no objection. It is good, however, for us to have a work or cell number in the event we discover items that require your attention.

Do I need better ventilation in my attic?
It is likely that you need better ventilation for your attic, but there are many factors to consider. Your Belmont sales representative will help you to determine what method of attic ventilation is right for you. If you would like to do some research on your own, visit our pals at Air Vent, where you can read a simple explanation of attic ventilation and learn the concept behind the superior Ridge Vent system.
Are my shingles defective?
Unfortunately, some of the shingles that were manufactured over the last 20 years have turned out to be defective. If the edges of your shingles are curling up, or if you are finding lots of the tiny rock granules in your gutters and downspouts, your shingles might be defective.
CertainTeed Corporation made many of these defective shingles and has recently settled a class action lawsuit. We can identify the shingles and file a claim for you with CertainTeed. We have already helped hundreds of people with this process, so if you think you might have these defective shingles, don’t hesitate to get a free estimate. If you just want more information about the CertainTeed claim process, you can visit this website.
Do you offer warranties?
Good work deserves a good warranty. We offer our own 5-year workmanship warranty that is separate from the manufacturers’ warranty on materials. We are very confident in our ability to get the job done right the first time, but if you have any problem down the road, we will be there to make it right.
Shingle manufacturers also warranty their products, offering both standard and upgraded warranties. Belmont has qualified as a Master Elite Contractor with GAF and as a Master Shingle Applicator with CertainTeed, which allows us to offer extended warranties from both companies.
What is the difference between traditional “three-tab” shingles and the newer “architectural” shingles?
Three-tab shingles have cutouts every foot, which create three separate tabs in the shingle. They present a very flat, uniform appearance. With architectural shingles, an extra layer is “laminated” to the shingle that enhances the appearance by adding depth and improves wind resistance of the shingle.
Architectural shingles and three-tab shingles are both fiberglass-based asphalt shingles. The main difference between the two is how they do in the wind. All architectural shingles we install will have at least a 110 mph wind warranty, whereas the three-tab shingles generally come with a 70 mph wind warranty. If you live in town, either style of shingle could work for you because you don’t get the straight line winds like houses get out in the country. We will only install architectural shingles on houses out in the country.
Do you handle insurance claims?
